Baptism of the Holy Spirit and How to Receive It

The Baptism of the Holy Spirit, which will include speaking in other tongues is a life-changing free gift from God Himself! We receive this experience to be able to fulfill our destiny, to be conformed to the image of Christ to walk in greater intimacy with the Father through Jesus, and to have the gifts of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We need to be childlike, and greatly desire this priceless free gift from God.

Many seeking the Baptism of the Holy Spirit have the fear that, when they speak in tongues, they might be "making up the language" instead of receiving the real thing. Matthew 7:7++ and Luke 11:11+ shows that when we ask for tongues, we will get the real thing, “bread and not a stone," “fish and not a serpent" or an "egg and not a scorpion."

It is our responsibility to speak out the sounds, syllables, or words by faith as a little child, and it is the Holy Spirit's responsibility to make it a real language. God sees to it that it will be "bread and not a stone" a real language in tongues.

On the day of Pentecost 120 received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and all 120 spoke in tongues. St. Paul considered speaking in tongues so important that he said, "I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all . . ."(1 Corinthians. 14:18). Jesus said, ". . . and these signs shall follow them that believe (That's you and me)… they shall speak with new tongues … they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover." (Mark 16:17).

You receive the Baptism in the Spirit (or a deep refilling) by faith‑‑as follows (It is not necessary but quite helpful to have a Spirit‑filled Christian "lay hands on you)"

    (1) Raise your head very high and lift your hands (with your eyes closed, picture Jesus in front of you). This helps you to open your spirit to God.

    (2) Then, praise God loudly (shouting is best!) and rapidly saying “I love you Jesus" for about a minute‑‑Just one or two minutes, BUT loudly and rapidly.

    (3) After about one or two minutes of shouting "I love you Jesus," stop English totally and suddenly. Then immediately start speaking words or syllables you don't understand (even if you think you are making them up). Those strange sounds or words will be from God! As you do this you are beginning to speak in tongues. God will give you what you are asking for‑‑the gift of tongues, a real language. It is “. . . bread and not a stone, fish and not a serpent" (Luke 11:11‑13).  If only a few unknown words come, keep speaking them and more will come. You are speaking in tongues, but it is only the beginning. A full language in tongues will come.

Continue speaking in tongues on your first day of being baptized in the Holy Spirit (or to be deeply refilled) for thirty minutes to two hours. Speak or sing in tongues every day. It is a language of Glory, of wisdom, and of prayer. You will become more aware of His Presence. You will get prayers answered more quickly. The Bible will become alive to you in a new dimension. Your life will be changed forever.
